FACE LIFT

Face lift, or rhytidectomy, is the most comprehensive approach to treat wrinkles or sagging of the face. Each facial area is evaluated separately according to the needs of the patient and surgical intervention is planned. With the face lift surgery, the loosening tissues under the facial skin are tightened, excess skin is removed, and the skin of the face and neck is lifted and hung. It maintains its reputation as the gold-standart in facial rejuvenation by correcting sagging in the mid-face, jaw and temple area.

Who are good candidates?

  • If you think your face does not reflect the young spirit and energy level you have

  • If you do not smoke

  • If you have found that saggy and loose skin on your face is a obstacle to you in your career and social life.

  • Your face shows signs of aging but your skin has a certain elasticity

  • One day when you look in the mirror and you realize that gravity, solar rays and time has taken a price from you, and you no longer look like yourself, you can become a suitable candidate for face lift surgery.

Benefits

It allows the correction of many areas of the face with a single surgical intervention.

It makes you look 10 -15 years younger, and the results can last for 10 years or more.

It can provide better results than all other techniques in correcting your neck and chin lines.

Drawbacks

Face lift surgery doesn't stop aging, it doesn't create a new “you” it just makes you look younger.

Depending on your age and skin type, a second procedure may be required later on.

How is the operation done?

Face lift surgery is performed under general anesthesia. The average operation time is 3-5 hours depending on the procedure. The incision starts from the front of the scalp, preauricular area , and then turns behind the ear and then extends into the scalp. Post-operative facial swelling and bruising may occur. Cold application for the first 24 hours significantly reduces swelling. It regresses in 15-20 days. There may be mild to moderate pain that can be controlled with appropriate painkillers. A special bandage is wrapped. If necessary, plastic small tubes, called drains, are placed to remove liquids that may accumulate inside. Drains are removed after 1-2 days. The patient is hosted in the hospital for one day.

Heavy activities are avoided for 1 month. Around the earlobe, there may be numbness in the face and neck that lasts for several weeks, and it is rarely permanent. The patient is asked to protect his face from direct sun for 2-3 months. It may take 4-6 months to fully heal and take the final shape of the face.

Does it leave permanent scars?

Your scars may look a little red and hard in the first 4-6 weeks after surgery. Then the redness disappears and softens. The scar takes its final shape after about a year.

Are the results permanent?

According to your genetic structure, skin quality, routine care and the technique used, the permanence of the results changes. It can usually last for 5-10 years or more.
